The Apple Macintosh celebrated its 30th birthday this week. Having visited the National Museum of Computing at Bletchley Park yesterday this short film from Apple feels even more pertinent.
Last weekend we all headed out to the cinema to see Disney’s new animated CGI feature film Wreck-It Ralph; a return to form for Disney. However, whilst Wreck-It Ralph is a great film, I was completely enchanted by the supporting short, the Oscar winning Paperman.
I loved the story, and the wonderful ideas within, but I was really taken by the animation style which looks almost hand-drawn. Disney created a completely new technology and type of animation to create Paperman; which goes from 2D to 3D and back to 2D to wonderful effect.

I love Field Notes, and I love Draplin, and this is just wonderful.
I have a ‘thing’ for early 20th century American graphic design; I love the bold flat colours, the typography with it’s mix of slab and script typefaces, and the wonderfully simple yet incredibly strong logos.
The Field Notes Memo Archive is an absolute delight.
