I have great pleasure in introducing you to my beautiful baby boy Nicholas Daniel Hughes, born this morning at 11.25.

Both Nicholas and his Mummy are doing really well.

Nicholas was born via Caesarean section. Whilst the theatre staff were completing the operation I went back to the ward to weigh and dress Nicholas. I had about thirty minutes before my wife joined us and it was a simply amazing moment.

I sat by the window holding Nicholas gazing at him and the beautiful blue sky. I have never felt such a sense of calm and well being in my entire life – magical!
