I’ve seen many many designers, and creatives, and developers, and web guys, and “serial entrepreneurs” speak at conferences, but there are few that are as genuine, as funny and as inspiring as Aaron Draplin.

I was privileged to meet Aaron briefly last year when he brought his Tall Tales From a Big Man tour to Manchester; it was one of the best talks I’ve seen.

Aaron recently presented at a Creative Morning event in Portland Oregon. Take 50 minutes to watch the video, you won’t regret it.

If you have some more time then watch Why America Is Fucked, and for America insert pretty much any country in the Western world.

Oh, and conference organisers – stop booking the usual suspects and book Aaron Draplin.

I’ve owned stupidly expensive fountain pens, I’ve tried all kinds of roller gel ball pen things, I’ve used pens that can write upside down and underwater, but none come close to the simple perfection of a wood case pencil.

I didn’t realise quite so much went into making them however.

Whilst making my coffee this morning I remembered this video I shot a while back as a test of iMovie on the iPhone and iPad.

I was surprised just how good the video from the iPhone is, but also surprised at what a palaver it is to get the movie off of the iPhone and onto the iPad for editing.

Getting data on and off the iOS devices is fast becoming a real chink in Apple’s armour I believe, but I digress.

My chum Jon Hicks recently introduced me to a wonderful new musical genre called Chap Hop.

The main exponents of Chap Hop are one Professor Elemental, and Mr B the self-titled Gentleman Rhymer.

Jon highlighted two of Professor Elemental’s best tracks on his rather splendid blog, and it is my pleasure to share with you one of Mr B’s finest tracks: Songs For Acid Edward. A splendid track in which he performs acid house classics in a Chap Hop style.
