I’m Starting to Feel Like a Gapingvoid “Dealer” But..
November 28 2007
Once again Hugh McLeod of Gapingvoid fame echoes my feelings about Facebook and sums it up even better than I in his latest post - Why Facebook might be consigning themselves to the slushpile of history.
So what’s stopping Facebook from putting in a small, tickable box that says, “Please do not let my ‘Friends’ send me any more of these REALLY ANNOYING Vampire/Zombie/Super wall/Super Poke/Whatever invites. I really, really don’t want them etc…”?
This is one of the many reasons I hate Facebook.
I logged in just now to check that Twitter was updating my “is…” on Facebook and had two invitations to a “Christmas Countdown” and an “Advent Calendar”… sigh.
I also saw that a friend had a “Super Wall” post; having not spoken to said friend for ages I thought I’d see what it said but I have to install yet another shitty ‘application’… sigh².
I registered with Facebook because I had a number of friends telling how great it was and that I should “be on Facebook”. I signed up and had a play and the de-registered in short order. I just do NOT see what the fuss is about, Facebook leaves me cold and mostly just annoys me!
You may of course be asking what therefore I was doing on Facebook today? Well I have a reason… and that’s all I have to say about that.
One thing that has struck me on my return to Facebook is how much quieter it is, at least amongst my group of friends - much fewer invitations, pokes etc.
Hopefully this is the beginning of the end…
